Who, what, why and how: Museum outreach in Hampshire

Abstract:

This study explores museum outreach in Hampshire. Outreach is not easily definable, it does not fit into a nice neat box and regrettably this fluidity makes it hard for professionals to quantify its importance. Presently museums are facing services being streamlined in light of budgetary issues; so what does this mean for outreach? This study explores what is currently happening with these programmes in Hampshire. What its definition is, who is practicing it, what activities are grouped under this heading and how it is evaluated. Aiming to provide an overview of the service and highlight areas of best practice.
