Audiences, Museums and the Social Web: How the museum can ensure its relvance in the age of the social web

Abstract:

This research investigates the potential for social media to be used as a major part of the way that museums care for their collections.  It also looks at how museums can use social media to improve knowledge around their collections, and how they can then share that new knowledge in an easy to understand way. The project suggests ways that the Museum can develop and use ideas such as allowing people to curate collections through the Web, and also looks at what that would mean for the ways that we have access to collections.
