Environments and occupations of Quaternary Northern Europe.

Supervisor: Dr. John McNabb

Abstract:

This project aims to contextualise the ever increasing environmental dataset for North Western Europe associated with Quaternary occupations of archaic human species. By assessing an already developed French sedimental record it is the aim to understand a similar, complex record seen on the Island of Jersey and that of Southern Britain. By understanding this sedimental record we can hope to further understand human interaction with climate throughout the period involved. Further, a connection with the rich archaeological record of Northern France throughout a period of apparent abandonment of the UK can be further discussed.
